Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois Appoints Ghiané Jones as Deputy Chief Investment Officer

The $67 billion Teachers' Retirement System of Illinois (TRS) has appointed Ghiané Jones as the new deputy chief investment officer, starting from October 10.

This is a significant addition to the TRS investment leadership team. Jones, who resides in Chicago, will be located in and oversee TRS's newly established office in Chicago. Jones has a strong background in asset allocation and challenges in Illinois public plans.

Jones has been serving as a managing principal and investment consultant at Meketa Investment Group in Chicago for the past six years. She has also held positions at Invesco, Northern Trust, and Goldman Sachs before her tenure at Meketa.

”Ghiané has a strong background in asset allocation, knows the challenges facing Illinois public plans well, and has worked on and is committed to diversity programs such as ours,“ said TRS Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer Stan Rupnik in a press release. “I look forward to working with her and adding her leadership and experience within our investment program.”
